Monkey + Seal t-shirts

Monkey + Seal believe that our art and ethics are interwoven and cannot be separated.

Much to our disappointment, when researching t-shirt sources, we found that many shirts are created at the expense of economically disadvantaged people world-wide. Although many companies are labeled “sweatshop free,” there are varying degrees for lack of better work regulations.

While American Apparel is the largest supplier of sweatshop-free garments (which also are of high quality and feel great), we also do not agree with much of the lookist hiring practices and sexist advertising that the company engages in.

Monkey + Seal's ideal supplier with have humane advertising, credible hiring processes, will be sweatshop-free, will be produced domestically, while still maintaining affordable prices to you, and have a variety of colors and sizes to suit everyone.

While we are still trying hard to find that perfect company, we will continue to do our best to offer great designs, with variety of color and sizes, and affordability while maintaining the best possible balance of our ethics by alternately using the following suppliers: American Apparel, Alternative Apparel, and No Sweat. We hope to give you high-quality t-shirts with peace of mind.

We have also decided to do away with "Women's" and "Men's/Unisex" terminology. From this point out, we will only sell "non-gendered shirts." All shirts will be unisex cuts, and the actual measurements of the shirt sizing will be displayed accordingly on the site in order to make sure that you are informed enough to make a purchase in full confidence that the shirt will fit right for you.
